Highlights

If you enjoy the thrill of exploring on two wheels or scaling hillside climbs for picturesque views, Dorset is the perfect location for you!

We've got a great range of cycling routes for you to choose from and also bike hire specialists who are able to offer bikes for all ages, kid kabs, tag-alongs and even electric bikes. So if you’ve not got room to bring your own bike with you, there is no need to miss out.

Explore our landscape

Quiet scenic trails, off-road routes and wonderful scenery make cycling in Dorset something very special indeed and provides the perfect destination for your holiday or short break.

Dorset offers a wide range of stunning cycle routes that appeal to all fitness levels, whether you’re out to enjoy a gentle jaunt through the countryside or looking to test yourself with a clifftop climb, you’re sure to find something to suit.

With much of Dorset being designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, whatever route you go on you’ll be blown away by Dorset’s wondrously diverse landscape.

Hit the trail

Here in Dorset we have a number of superb cycling trails for you to try. Whether you’re looking to get down and dirty on an off-road trail or stick to the highways and byways, there is a route for you.

The national cycle network routes run through Dorset and provide a brilliant opportunity to enjoy all that Dorset has to offer. Route 2 offers the chance to take in Dorset’s stunning natural beauty on a trail that takes you from east to west, from Christchurch to Lyme Regis and beyond.

Route 26 runs from Sherborne in the north to the county town of Dorchester and on towards Weymouth on the coast. This route really encapsulates the stunningly diverse landscape taking in rolling hills and dramatic coastline.

Cyclists Welcome

Many of our accommodation in Dorset provide special provisions for visitors on bike and have been accredited by Quality in Tourism (VisitEngland) with the Cyclists Welcome award. Further details of the award can be found on the QIT website and accommodation within Dorset that have gained recognition can be found there.

Hopefully we’ve convinced you to consider Dorset for your next cycling break. We promise you won’t be disappointed. Time to hit the road…
