Big named brands
For your big shopping experiences head to the towns of Dorchester, Weymouth, Poole and Bournemouth. They are packed with well-known high street names and department stores, as well as independent smaller shops.
Brewery Square in Dorchester has some great higher end stores to entice shoppers and afterwards you can get something to eat in the huge variety of restaurants within the square or watch a film at the cinema.
Individual and unique
You will find friendly and helpful retailers at the seaside town of Swanage, ready to assist with your purchases – many of them stocking unusual and unique clothing and accessories. Rainbow’s End is jam packed with brightly coloured and interesting items – you won’t find a dull colour in sight!
The riverside town of Wimborne is a ‘Fairtrade’ and 'plastic free' town offering an enticing blend of charming independent boutiques, specialist shops and high street stores all based around the beautiful and picturesque Minster Church. Explore the hidden courtyards, calm pedestrianised walkways and attractive High Street, where a diverse mix of clothing, footwear and jewellery await.
Bridport's bustling high street is mostly made up of small, independent retailers with a few well-known brands too. The shops spread out in three directions along South, East and West Streets and many are long established family businesses. There is not just one, but five markets which take place regularly in the town. At St. Michael's Trading Estate you'll find lots of vintage, retro and antiques shops to while away a few hours.
With a wide range of individually-owned shop and boutiques, Sherborne is a great place to find a unique gift and exclusive fashion. You’ll recognise high street brands alongside some great independent stores along the interestingly named Cheap Street.
Christchurch’s traditional high street and Saxon Square shopping quarter mixes well-known stores and individual retailers. The Quay, Priory Church and Castle Ruins are all within walking distance for extending your day and taking in some sights.
