Christmas Events in Dorset

Christmas in Dorset 2026 promises festive magic for all. Twinkling lights will illuminate high streets across the county, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Families can look forward to visits from Father Christmas, who’ll be spreading cheer in attractions, towns and villages. This year also brings exciting new events to the calendar, offering fresh ways to celebrate the season. From traditional markets and carol concerts to light trails and winter fairs, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you're shopping for gifts or soaking up the festive spirit, Dorset is the perfect place to make magical Christmas memories this year.

Dorset's dazzling Christmas lights

Starting from late November, our town Christmas lights will be switched on - lighting up our shopping areas and highstreets to get everyone into the Christmas spirit as they go about their present buying.

Along with our town centre Christmas trees and festive light displays, why not visit a winter illuminated light trail this season.

See Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens in a whole new light with Illuminate. Visit the gardens after dark to see the trees and grounds lit up in multicolour.

At Nutley Farm, the magical illuminated route with new lighting structures and a giant lit-up reindeer is full of lighting spectacles, projections and surprises around each corner. You can even meet the resident real-life reindeer Rudolph, Prancer, Sprout and Parsnip in their stable.

New for 2026, Illuminate will be bringing a new winter lights trail to Dorset at Upton Country Park. Open from 20 November, follow the trail across the park and grounds, ending with some festive treats at the food court.
