Dorset Museum has now re-opened following a 2 year refurbishment.
More of the Museum’s internationally significant collections of archaeology, art, literature, geology, natural and social history will be on display than ever before.
Reimagined galleries have been designed and curated to inspire, with Dorset’s stories creatively interpreted using beautiful, objects, hands on interactive displays, and stunning audio-visual presentations. All contained within an architecturally striking, ecologically sustainable new building.

The nearest major road is the A35. The Museum has a set-down point, but no car park. We are conveniently located within the town centre within easy reach of the plentiful of short and long stay parks.

Blue Badge Holders are able to park in a number of town centre parking. There is also on street parking in Trinity Street and Princess Street.

We are within walking distance of Dorchester South and Dorchester West train stations. There is no step-free platform access at either Dorchester station. Find more information on using these stations, including accessibility, on their websites.

Follow directions into town - Dorset Museum (formerly Dorset County Museum) is highlighted on the black signposts.
Walk up South Street to the very top. We can be found across the road on High West Street.
There is a bus stop directly outside of the Museum.
