Nestled upon the Dorset clifftop, Highcliffe Castle welcomes the return of its enchanting Christmas Tree Festival, back for its second year and set to be even more magical. From 5 December to 23 December, the Castle will be transformed into a festive wonderland filled with beautifully decorated Christmas trees created by local businesses, charities, community groups, and individuals.

Tickets also include full access to the Castle and the new art exhibition presented by the Hengist Group of Artists, making this year’s festival a wonderful blend of community creativity, heritage, and Christmas spirit.

A Festive Experience for All Ages

Highcliffe Castle at ChristmasVisitors young and old can immerse themselves in the sparkle of the season. Children are invited to embark on a magical festive story trail, following Maurice, our marvellous Christmas mouse, as he scurries through the Castle getting everything ready for the big day!  Along the way, families will weave through glittering trees, discover enchanting decorations, and help Maurice complete special Christmas tasks hidden in each room. From sparkling surprises to charming seasonal scenes, this interactive adventure promises a delightful experience full of wonder and festive cheer.

As the evening rolls in, step into the magic of the Christmas Tree Festival after dark. On selected evenings only, the Christmas Tree Festival transforms into an unforgettable nighttime experience. Wander among twinkling lights and beautifully decorated trees while enjoying live performances that change each evening—from elegant pianists and captivating string quartets to soulful choirs and lively brass bands.

Warm up with Mulled Wine and Mince Pies available from the Castle Bar and soak up the cozy atmosphere.

Supporting the Community - “A Gift at Christmas”

Spreading festive cheer is a key ingredient for our Castle Christmas. This year, Highcliffe Castle is proud to support local food banks. Guests are encouraged to bring along a donation for our “A Gift at Christmas” Tree, helping to support families in need during the festive season. Suggested items include tinned goods, biscuits, staple foods, and toiletries.

As a thank-you, all donors will receive a 10% discount voucher for purchases in the Castle shop on the day of their visit.

Behind the Magic – A Castle Community Christmas

This year’s Christmas Tree Festival is a true labour of love from our Castle family. Staff and volunteers have come together with creativity and care to fill every corner with festive cheer. From designing miniature costumes for Maurice the Christmas Mouse to handcrafting props and arranging seasonal displays, every detail has been thoughtfully prepared to create an enchanting experience for all.
