Sherborne’s beautiful countryside makes it the perfect setting to get active on your trip.

Book your holiday or short break to Sherborne now and you'll return home refreshed and rejuvenated.

Walking

Pick up your copy of the Sherborne Town Trail from the library and follow the route to discover the history and heritage of the town. The route includes Sherborne’s two castles, the Abbey and the Almshouse.

For those who would like a longer walking route there is Monarch’s Way and the Macmillan Way to explore. Both walks are long distance but can be broken down into smaller sections for your trip to Sherborne.

The Monarch’s Way trail can be followed from the edge of town, then heads north for 8 miles to the town of Yeovil. On the Macmillan Way you can travel north to the iron age hillfort at Cadbury Camp or south to the villages of Yetminster or Evershot. Why not pack a picnic of delicious local food and drink for the journey?

Cycling in Sherborne

Cycling enthusiasts should try the National Cycle Network Route 26. Traveling south this route connects Sherborne to the Isle of Portland coast via Dorchester and Weymouth or heading north, to Glastonbury in Somerset.

Just six miles west of Sherborne you'll find Ninesprings at Yeovil Country Park. Here visitors can cycle along the old railway network and take in the delightful scenery around them, there’s also beautiful woodland, streams and a play area. Perfect for a family day out.

Golf

Golf enthusiasts shouldn’t miss the opportunity to play a round of golf at Sherborne Golf Course. The course is an 18-hole parkland course designed by James Braid which measures just over 6,400 yards from the back tees, playing to a par 72 and offers a variety of teeing options.

Both the clubhouse and course have stunning views over the Blackmore Vale to the south and Glastonbury Tor to the north. After a round of golf why not relax and enjoy some delicious food and drink at the clubhouse?
