Active & Outdoor Lyme Regis

Lyme Regis is the perfect place to get outdoors, breathe in some fresh air and get away from it all. There are a huge range of activities to experience on your day trip or holiday in Lyme Regis, cycle routes, walking routes and of course watersports.

Walks with views

If you want to stretch your legs on your trip to Lyme there are a number of coastal and inland walking routes to discover. So, whether you are an experienced walker or want a short stroll, Lyme Regis is the perfect place to get outdoors.

For walkers who would like a challenge, the immediate coastline around Lyme Regis is dramatic and beautiful with many rambling paths, including the South West Coast Path. To the west is the Undercliff Natural Nature Reserve and to the east is Golden Cap, the highest point on the south coast.

Gentler walking routes can be found in town. Stroll down the Marine Parade to the Cobb or walk along the River Lim towards Uplyme on the East Devon way.

Why not make a day of it? Pack a picnic and stop off and enjoy some beautiful scenery and stunning views along the way.

Lyme on two wheels

Cycling is a great way to get around and explore West Dorset. The National Cycle Network Route 2 is a 30-mile cycle route from Lyme Regis to Dorchester and includes some pretty, rural areas and villages of West Dorset. Hop on your bike and experience it for yourself.

Or try one of the five West Dorset Pedal routes, cycling and eating your way around the beautiful West Dorset landscape.  Uncover the county’s finest food and the landscape that has inspired so many artists, writers and musicians. The routes take in local breweries, farms, vineyards, cafes and producers to take you on a delicious journey of the area.

Watersports for all

For those who love the water there’s a whole range of water-based activities on offer!

Cast a line on a mackerel fishing trip, take a gentle boat cruise, hire a kayak or paddleboard. Those looking to get the heart really pumping can join an exhilarating rib ride with the Lyme Bay RIB Rides, who offer both fast and slower paced trips suitable for the whole family.

Outdoor fun

If you prefer to keep your feet firmly on the ground, why not challenge each other to a game of mini golf or table tennis in Langmoor and Lister Gardens. It’s a great fun way to entertain the whole family.

For those adrenalin seekers the Lyme Regis Skatepark is a great facility for skateboarders, BMXers and skaters to practice their skills and tricks.

So, get outdoors and try something new on your trip.
