Lyme Regis Discovery Trail - The Gardens
High up above the seafront, Langmoor and Lister Gardens offer spectacular views of the Cobb and Jurassic Coast.
Beautifully re-landscaped during the coastal protection scheme in 2006-2007, the award-winning Langmoor and Lister Gardens offer winding paths between grasses and shrubs designed to encourage wildlife, and grassed areas with benches to enjoy the stunning sea views.
There is an ongoing refurbishment programme to recognise the town council’s commitment to reduce its carbon footprint, create all year round interest and offer a glorious space to recharge physical, spiritual and mental health.
Explore the Woodland Walk through tall trees with bird feeders, nest boxes, bird tables, bug hotels, bat boxes and information boards about the local flora and fauna. At night, the trees are often illuminated by dozens of colourful lights.
The gardens provide a perfect outdoor gallery for a range of contemporary sculptures by local artists on the Sculpture Trail, while family fun and games are offered by mini-golf, table tennis and a small putting green.
Points of interest
Play Mini Golf
Enjoy a fun game of mini golf in Lister Gardens with a superb view of the Cobb and Jurassic Coast as a backdrop.
The 18-hole mini golf course is a popular attraction for players of all ages. All the equipment is provided and there are stickers and mini prizes for children on completing the course.
For the more ambitious players there is a course record and we challenge you to beat it!
See the Town Council Website for opening times and prices.
Light Illuminations
In late 2019, a new lighting system was installed in the trees of Langmoor Gardens, providing a glorious and intriguing evening display. The 60 multi-coloured lights illuminate from dusk until 11 pm at various times in the year and can change depending on events and occasions.
Somers Statue
Sir George was a former MP of Lyme Regis and has a fascinating past.
Born in Lyme Regis in 1554, he had a successful career as a merchant trader and privateer and founded Bermuda (The Somers Isles) when he shipwrecked there in 1609.
Lyme Regis is today twinned with St. George in Bermuda.
