Bournemouth 7s, the world’s largest sport and music festival, attracts players, spectators and festival goers alike to Bournemouth for an action packed weekend of superb sport, live music and awe-inspiring entertainment.
Over 5,000 players compete in a wide variety of social and competitive tournaments in Rugby, Netball, Dodgeball and Hockey. The elite competitions welcome some of the best national touring sides including a few International stars and are truly worth a watch!
That said, Bournemouth 7s is much more than a sports festival. Famed for its unique atmosphere, the festival offers something for everyone whether you’re 5 or 85!
Enjoy the unsurpassed beauty of the Purbecks at the Swanage & Purbeck Walking Festival.
With over 35 themed and guided walks exploring the beautiful coastline and countryside of Purbeck, learn about the colourful history, the wildlife and the stunning Jurassic Coast.
All walks are led by knowledgeable local guides and suitable for all ages and all abilities with short strolls for beginners to challenging coastal hikes for seasoned walkers.
Running has seen the biggest rise in participation of any sport in England in recent years and marathons, half-marathons, Park Runs and Colour Runs are springing up everywhere.
Dorset is no exception and the county offers some fantastic opportunities for those who want to set themselves their next challenge.
Take in the spectacular views and rural heritage of the Cerne Valley with the popular Giants Head Marathon, voted the best Marathon in UK by Runnersworld Magazine 2014!
Or, sign up to the new Dorchester Marathon and soak up the history of Dorset on this fantastic route, complete with great aid stations, the Love Station, disco barn, camping, bars and lots of food!
If 26 miles isn’t your thing, the Weldmar Colour Run in May is a fantastic family friendly event. Run, jog, walk, skip or dance through a shower of colour in Lodmoor Country Park, Weymouth and raise money for a worthy charity.
