Weymouth is very lucky to have two top class nature reserves virtually in the middle of town.
Radipole Lake is situated right next to the beach car park (Swannery Car Park) where our visitor centre and shop is also placed. Radipole Lake has always been a favourite place for wildlife enthusiasts to visit due to its range of rare and common wildlife. But Radipole Lake isn’t just for keen birdwatchers. We have a range of family activities such as pond dipping and duck feeding. We also have activities that can be taken around the nature reserve to help make your visit even more enjoyable.
Whilst in the visitor centre you can have a look through powerful telescopes and spot what wildlife you can see through our large panoramic windows. We also have teas and coffee on offer which is an essential on those cold autumn and winter days.
Guided walks are run regularly which are a perfect way to find out more about the nature reserve and the wildlife that lives on it.
If you take a walk around the nature reserve you may encounter the North Hide where you can view wildlife close up. Its open daily at 8:30am and closes at 4:30pm.
Lodmoor is just outside of town along side the A353 just past the Lodmoor Country Park. You can escape the hustle and bustle of town and enjoy a quiet relaxing walk around a nature reserve where you could encounter a vast range of bird species. Information about Lodmoor can be found at the visitor centre at Radipole Lake.
Opening Times for Visitor centre. 9am till 5pm. (November, December and January closes at 4pm). Open 7 days a week including bank holidays.
* Open 09.00 to 17.00 (November, December & January closes at 16.00). Open 7 days a week including bank holidays
