Just a few years ago, Silverlake Dorset was unknown to holidaymakers. Thanks to Habitat First Group, this site has gone through an incredible transformation into a lakeside holiday home community, unlike anything else in the county.

The Holiday Homes

Just a stone’s throw from the Jurassic coast, modern avant-garde villas spill out onto lakes with expansive vistas across the Dorset heathland and Silverlake’s private beach and Spa. Many of the properties come with private pontoons and boat stores for easy access to the water, whilst all of them come with wood burning stoves for long, cosy evenings.

The sustainable properties range in scale from two bed cottages to five bedroom spacious villas, all architect designed and finished to perfection. Many of the holiday homes include full watercraft and bike hire too, meaning there’s less to think about when packing.

Family Fun

Children are instantly at home at Silverlake, running free around the forest playgrounds, using a zipwire to reach their very own island and enjoying the independence of being on a secure family owned estate. Meanwhile, adults are able to relax in the new rooftop bar, infinity pool or for the ultimate indulgence, in one of the spa treatment rooms.

Many people come to this beautiful hideaway for the peace and quiet, but for those who prefer something more action-packed, there are tennis courts, watersports, wild swimming, a gym and cycle hire.

Events

There are also seasonal events at Silverlake at Easter, Halloween and Christmas and the site has recently launched a highly popular Thomas Hardy tour, taking in the sites of Hardy’s poetry and prose, which includes a gourmet lunch in a local historic pub.

Flora and Fauna

Nature lovers will have a great time here. With almost 150 different species on site, there is a good chance of spotting Wild Ponies, Sika Deer, Otters, Woodpeckers and Nightjar. Nature trails run all over the site with handy notes on what to look out for and a wildlife-based brass rubbing trail for the little ones. Further into the development a quirky fishing hut is stocked up for visitors with reels for the adults and nets for the kids.

Nearby Attractions

Further afield there are plenty of attractions to keep you busy. A little-known beach, Ringstead Bay, is perfect for a dip or a spot of paddle-boarding, whilst traditional British seaside town, Weymouth, has plenty to keep the kids busy, including seal watching tours from the historic harbour. Sandbanks, Lulworth Cove and Kimmeridge Bay are also fully accessible. Also worth a visit are the nearby attractions of Monkey World, The Tank Museum and Corfe Castle.
