West Dorset has a reputation as one of the UK’s must-visit foodie destinations with many a top chef relocating here to take advantage of fresh produce right on their doorstep. Enjoy freshly caught fish from the coast, where the likes of West Bay turbot, Lulworth scallops and the line caught Portland Bill seabass tempt on many a chalkboard.
It’s spot the celebrity chef time! Mark Hix in Lyme Regis, Lesley Waters at Abbot’s Hill, Mat Follas in Poundbury. And, it was Hugh Fearnley -Whittingstall who brought the abundance of Dorset’s larder to our screens from his nearby River Cottage.
Picnics can be packed and BBQs loaded from farmshops, village stores and farmers’ markets, all crammed with locally produced goodies. So grab your basket and load up with wine, cider, cheese, organic meat, fruit and vegetables, speciality breads and home baked cakes...and then simply sit back and enjoy the view whilst digging into some seriously good food.

Savour a seaside breakfast with a stunning view, enjoy a hearty lunch at the local village inn or treat your loved one to a romantic dinner for two at a high-end restaurant, where you’ll enjoy creative dishes from the same ingredients that have been used here for generations.
