You are here: Accommodation > The Dorset Resort
Located just 10 miles from Poole The Dorset Golf Resort is set in the heart of Dorset. The Resort, Facilities and Golf Course are built over the 350 acres of privately owned woodland in an area of outstanding natural beauty with truly peaceful and picturesque surroundings.
The fairy tale Scandinavian style houses at “The Dorset Resort” are very different types of buildings not often seen in the English countryside. These houses create the unique healthy living environment because the wood “breathes” whilst at the same time being a better insulator than brick.
The homes combine simplicity with luxury, the natural oiled pine floors, walls and ceilings create a remarkably relaxed living space and all the furniture and fittings are of a very high quality. You can rent from two days to four weeks in these wonderful homes, enabling you to spend quality time in this picturesque area of Dorset. All the houses are set in a quiet woodland glade surrounded by fir trees.
These beautiful houses sleep up to eight people and can be rented throughout the year. Each one has a fully fitted kitchen, luxurious furniture, wood burning stove, sauna, verandah, trolly shed – in fact, everything to ensure five star accommodation for all our guests. A fantastic place to stay.
The latest two additions of the Woodland Cottage & Oakland Cottage, two £500,000+ luxury houses offer more privacy each with a private garden, and have in fact, become the most rented houses sleeping up to 10.
We have two fully stocked coarse fishing lakes. The lakes are set in their own tranquil surroundings close to “The Dorset Resort”.
“The Dorset Resort” is home to an abundance of wildlife: deer, badger, fox, hare and rabbits. Woodpecker, heron, kingfisher, and bitten are among our bird inhabitants. We must not forget a multitude of butterfly varieties special to the Dorset countryside.
We have our own private nature trails, around 75 acres of historic woodlands, from one to four miles of magical walks with many types of trees. 500 year old coppiced Oaks, Douglas Firs, Eucalyptus, Cedar plus many more. The Forestry Commission stated that “this ancient woodland is a living museum”.
We can offer to arrange a full selection of leisure activities during your stay from mountain biking, clay shooting or gliding, to horse riding, swimming and sea fishing. You can also explore the delights of the New Forest, shopping in Poole and Bournemouth, cinemas, theatre, casinos and nightclubs.
As a tourist resort we are within easy reach of Poole and Bournemouth and the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. Our location enjoys a superb micro climate, which means we are never out of season, recording the lowest average rainfalls in the United Kingdom.
Hardy Country abounds with many natural and historic places of interest, truly an area awaiting to be explored. Come and enjoy the Dorset experience.
Next to the Dorset Resort we have the Dorset Golf and Country club. “The Dorset Golf & country Club hosts two of the most challenging courses in Dorset and is recognised as one of the golfing gems of the South of England”.
The Lakeland/Parkland Course, designed by Martin Hawtree, has hosted many Championship events including the South West PGA and The MasterCard Tour event. With four sets of tees and 7000 yards off the Championships tees and around 6000 yards of the tee of the day, it is an excellent test of golf for players of all standards.
The Woodland Course, also designed by Martin Hawtree, is equally outstanding with its rhododendron and tree lined fairways. The whole 27 holes, boasts USGA specification greens and there are no hills to climb – if you want to spoil yourself, you can hire one of our modern buggies.
