About

We look forward to welcoming you to Strongate Cottage.  Our 17th Century self catering thatched cosy cottage is full of character and is located down a long winding lane in the village of Salway Ash, three miles from Bridport.  The Cottage is a perfect base for exploring all that West Dorset has to offer,   Located in a rural setting on a small working farm with beef cattle, ducks and geese, surrounded by unspoilt countryside.   Peaceful tranquil envrionment, pretty garden with wildlife, the perfect base for relaxing and recharging your batteries.   Well behaved dogs are permitted at £10 per dog per week (usually a maximum of two depending on breed/size).  Non smokers only please.

The World famous Jurassic coastline and harbour of West Bay (home of ITV Broadchurch) is 5 miles away and lovely Lyme Regis 9 miles.  Wonderful coastal walks aplenty.  The closest market town of Bridport offers plenty of independent shops, weekly Saturday & Wednesday markets, a vintage quarter and much much more.  The closest harbour and beach is at West Bay.  Lyme Regis and Weymouth are a short drive away, along with other Dorset towns and villages.  The Cottage is ideally located for you to explore the area and the great outdoors.   Fossil hunting at Charmouth is to be recommended during your stay, along with a walk up Golden Cap with it's wonderful views of the Jurassic coastline.  A trip to Weymouth along the coast road by car or the local bus service will be a delight with views spanning as far as Portland on a clear day.  Plenty of cafes, pubs & restaurants to suit all tastes.

The Cottage Sleeps 4. and in addition a small child can be accommodated .  Well equipped galley style kitchen with flagstone floor, oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine with tumble dryer, fridge with freezer compartment.  One step down to open plan carpeted lounge and dining area.  Smart TV, table and chairs and two comfy sofas.

We have two bedrooms upstairs, one with twin beds and chest of drawers, the other with double bed and large fitted wardrobe.   Both bedrooms overlook the pretty garden. The modern bathroom is upstairs with bath and shower attachment over bath, toilet and sink, tiled ceramic floor.

The pretty garden has wooden table and chairs, flower borders and grass area.  Birds visit along with the occassional pheasant and duck!

Parking for two cars is located close by, entry to the Cottage is through a shared garden gate which is only used for the Cottage and the Farmhouse.

Travel cot and highchair available. Free Wifi    All linen is included, including towels, along with electricity and nightstorage heating.
