You are here: Accommodation > Stock Gaylard
The estate is approximately 1800 acres with around 300 acres of predominantly oak woodland, 80 acres of common land and an enclosed 80 acre deer park with a small lake.Over the last couple of hundred years the estate has been used for country sports and the hedgerows and woodlands preserved for that purpose. The result is an unspoilt environment that encompasses modern dairy farming with a number of Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
Our traditional handmade yurts stand on wooden platforms and cause no permanent damage to the land and the dark green canvas covering is in harmony with their surroundings.
Here is a short introduction to our sites - when you book with us you book the WHOLE site and all the facilities are yours alone.
Sawpits Wagon | Sleeps 2 : In a quiet part of the estate is our woodmans wagon perfect for two! With a double bed, gas cooker & seating area you have everything you need! Step outside your front door on to raised decking and enjoy a glass of wine or two enjoying the sunset. Just a few steps away is your private hot shower & famous loo with a view!
Parsons Camp | Sleeps 11 : All aboard at our quirkiest site! Our double-decker bus acts as a sleeping space, living area, kitchen and open topped dining room! Guests love to sit out on the top deck and soak up the morning or evening sun. Not got a head for heights? There is a ground level campfire for you too. 5 of you will get to snooze on board but the rest will have to disembark to our bunkhouse & shepherds hut. Enjoy a private loo and our horse box bathroom complete with woodfired bath!
Brickles Camp | Sleeps 12: Comprised of four yurts, the site is set just outside Brickles woods with uninterrupted views. 3 yurts are for sleeping and the last is a large living area with a gas hob and heater, with plenty of seating, a table, cushions, rugs, games and books for when our English summer is not so summery! Outside is a gas oven and washing up area as well as a flushing loo and bath/shower. There is also of course a campfire!
Withybed Camp | Sleeps 14: You'll find Withybed yurts all on high raised decking, with three sleeping yurts, a large living yurt, a kitchen area, shower, woodfired open air bath & loo! You will never want to get down! Enjoy cooking in the 'cheats' gas oven and eating alfresco on the decking or huddle round the campfire and cook up some traditional camping fayre.
All our sites are stylishly and individually furnished allowing you to enjoy the pleasures of the outdoors without sacrificing any comforts!
We welcome children at all of the sites are happy for groups to bring up to two dogs per site. For those not driving we have an excellent rail link at nearby Sherborne which is a ten minute taxi ride away.
