Summer Firework Displays
One of Weymouth’s truly iconic summer events has to be the magnificent International Firework Displays launched in Weymouth Bay. A spectacle regularly enjoyed by thousands of residents and visitors, viewing the displays from along Weymouth Esplanade, Seafront and many favorite vantage points around Weymouth Bay.

With 2012 offering a outstanding year of events including the many celebrations surrounding the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics this year’s Weymouth Summer Fireworks will take place on the following dates:-

• Monday 4th June - Queens Jubilee, 10 pm (linked with National Beacon Lighting).

• Thursday 12th July - Torch Relay, Celebration Evening - 9.30 pm

• Friday 27th July - Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games (Time of fireworks to be announced)

• Wed 15th Aug – Weymouth Carnival - 9.30 pm

• Monday 27th August - August Bank Holiday – 9.30 pm

Borough’s Plans Queens Diamond Jubilee
Weymouth and Portland will be the place to be in June as it joins in the Countries Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations. Many passionate local organisations have joined the Borough Council to coordinate and celebrate an impressive range of events running throughout the big Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Weekend, Saturday 2nd to Tuesday 5th June.

The Bumper program of events will include Beacon Lighting and Major Seafront Fireworks (4th June) Wessex Folk Festival (1st – 3rd June) and Quayside Music Festival (3rd – 5th June) on Weymouth Harbour. Parade of Boats “Sail Past” (3rd June), D Day Picnic (3rd June) at the picturesque Nothe Gardens, Queen II Tribute Band Concert at the Nothe Fort (4th June). Additional events running throughout the Queens Jubilee weekend include Sail for Gold at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, Passage to Portland at Portland Marina, International triathlon on Weymouth Seafront and the Hardy Country Vintage and Classic Vehicle Run.

Maritime Mix – London 2012 Cultural Olympiad by the Sea

Running from March to September 2012, a vibrant programme of creative events will animate Weymouth, Portland and the Jurassic Coast delivering a once in a lifetime experience, celebrating the location as the largest Olympic venue outside the capital as host to the London 2012 OIympic and Paralympic Sailing.
