The Chalk Legends
Performance
To celebrate the London 2012 sailing and windsurfing events being hosted in Weymouth and Portland in 2012, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra has invited Stephen McNeff to devise The Chalk Legends, a large scale music, dance and multi media event. This will culminate in a spectacular performance in May 2012.
As a place inhabited for more than two millenia, Dorset contains unparalleled richness of history and folklore. Not only in the ground, but on the hills and fields, the county tells its story in stone, chalk, the patterns of the landscape and the contours of the coast.
Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and dancers from Dance South West plan to visit and hold workshops in over sixty villages in Dorset and be part of the creation of a myth culminating at the National Sailing Academy in Weymouth & Portland in May 2012.
