Spirit of the Sea is an annual festival of independently organised and funded marine events leading up to the borough hosting the sailing events for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games. This unique festival celebrates the area's rich maritime heritage and relationship with the sea. It is the strong intention of the organising group to continue and develop this festival annually, up to 2013 and beyond, creating a magnificent Olympic legacy for the people and youth of Weymouth and Portland.
