The Melplash Agricultural Show 2013 takes place at the Showground, West Bay, Bridport on Thursday 22nd August. It is one of the largest one day agricultural shows in the area and the only one held by the sea. Having not lost its traditional roots, it still remains today a showcase and celebration for local farmers, producers, growers and craftsmen in the area. For those that are not familiar with farming it provides a rare opportunity to find out what is involved, and to trace your food from field and sea to plate!! Attracting around 20,000 visitors a year from town and country, it is no surprise that it is regarded as the South West’s Premier one day Agricultural Show, and is known by regular visitors as the ‘friendly’ Show

As always there will be a wonderful selection of farm animals to see including horses, ponies and donkeys. In the popular Countryside Arena, there is terrier and ferret racing, falconry and lots more exciting activities. Running alongside is the horticultural, floral, handicraft and bee marquees where there is always a fantastic display of exhibits. Not forgetting the fabulous food hall and ‘By-the- Sea’ marquee where you can savour local produce and seafood.

This year in the Tool Station main ring visitors will be entertained by the nationally acclaimed Bolddog Lings Freestyle Motorcycle Team known for their death defying tricks. They will be joined by a magnificent display of Agricultural and Trade Heavy Horse turnouts as well as the parade of winning animals, huntsmen and their hounds and beagles , and show jumping.

With this exciting main ring programme, the popular countryside arena , food hall, by- the- sea and craft marquees, cookery demonstrations, over 300 trade stands, fun fair and much more, it truly is a fantastic day out for all the family.
