Great Fun for all the family!!

Saturday 18th May - 19th May 2013 from 10am.

Following on from the success of last year’s Bake Day this year the Christchurch Food and Wine Festival is launching the “Great Christchurch Bake Weekend and Fete”.

Taking place on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 May when Christchurch Quay (The Quomps) will be transformed into the scene of a typical English fete, with white marquees, a giant helter-skelter and a whole lot more.

Aspiring bakers are being encouraged to dust off their aprons and get baking to enter the competitions. On the Saturday the BBC’s Great British Bake Off champion of 2011, Jo Wheatley, will be helping to judge the adults’ baking competition and demonstrating her skills.

There will be fascinating demonstrations taking place in the cookery theatre, sponsored by The Captain’s Club Hotel & Spa and supported by Waitrose, and hands-on cookery sessions for children and adults presented by the Christchurch Food Festival Education Trust.

Details of the classes and expert tutors can be found at the Bake Weekend link on the left where competition entry forms and entry terms and conditions can also be found. Tickets for the sessions can be bought through the Regent Centre website at www.regentcentre.co.uk.

On the Sunday the Food Festival’s patron Lesley Waters will assist in judging the children’s baking competition and the showstopper category. Once again the cookery theatre and hands-on cookery sessions will be in full flow.

Over both days there will be individual trade stalls, a children’s fete and vintage cars as well as food and drink stalls to help make a real day of it.
In addition to Jo Wheatley, Saturday experts include: Sarah Howard (Member of the Academy of Culinary Arts), Tim Gower (Captains Club Hotel), Simon Hallam (Crooked Beam), Kirsti Maybank (Claridges Hotel) and Helen Shaw (Vanilla Pink Cakes).

As well as Lesley Waters, Sunday experts include: Sarah Howard (Member of the Academy of Culinary Arts), Des Burke (Flavours Cookery School), Luke Stuart (White Pepper Cookery School), Jenny Budzynski (Miss Ingredient) and Helen Shaw (Vanilla Pink Cakes).

For further information on the Bake Weekend please contact Cheryl Davies, Captain’s Club Hotel on 01202 475111.
