Exploratory Laboratory (Ex-Lab)

Exploratory Labaratory (Ex Lab) brings together visual artists and scientist to create new work inspired by the Jurassic Coast. Ex Lab aims to give the UK and international visitors and Dorset residents a uniquely different perspective on this stunning coast and landscape, changing the way they see and understand it.

Research labs will be established from July 2011 at locations along the Dorset coast chosen as natural vantage points for observing and collecting information about the coast and sea. These labs will be the focus for artists working alongside scientists and local people researching the changing coast, its global connections, and the technology used to monitor and observe it. As a result of this work they will create new and exciting temporary works to be installed and discovered in unexpected places along the coast in August and September 2012.
