The Bath & West Showground has played host to gardening shows for fourteen years and this year we are pleased to present the National Gardening Show..... the Finest in Autumn Gardening. The popular Scarecrow Competition will be down in the woodland area along with trails for children. Other attractions range from advice on allotments to running a smallholding with animals and poultry on show.
When shopping, gardeners will find everything they need from plants to pergolas whilst the demonstrations and competitions will appeal to all our visitors. There is the National Dahlia Show filling the Showering Pavilion with breathtaking blooms, the National Giant Vegetable Competition with unbelievable shapes and sizes and NAFAS (National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies) with their beautiful and creative interpretations of flowers, celebrating their 30th Anniversary. Also there are the popular feature gardens to admire and inspire.
Entries are coming in for our Show Garden Competition and we are expecting to see many innovative, colourful, and interesting exhibits. We have categories for students, allotment gardeners, businesses and individuals wishing to take up the challenge of the Showcase Garden.
This year, for the first time, we have given the Showcase Garden Competition a theme. Competitors are asked to design an accessible garden for people who are paralysed following spinal cord injury, and therefore use a wheelchair. A rehabilitation garden is planned for the Duke of Cornwall Spinal Treatment Centre (DoCSTC) in Salisbury which is the only centre for spinal cord injuries in the South and South West of England. The ‘Jubilee Garden' will be funded by the Southern Spinal Injuries Trust (SSIT) www.ssit.org.uk .
