Built on the site of the family home of Lyme's renowned fossilist Mary Anning, the building is packed with fascinating displays on Lyme's history, its internationally important geology and the many significant writers connected with the town, from Jane Austen to John Fowles. The museum also organises fossil hunting walks along the beach and history walks of the town.
