Dorset Countryside

Come and explore the beautiful Dorset countryside - you’ll find something for all the family to enjoy!

The charming countryside Dorset has to offer has been designated as an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ and it’s easy to see why.  Behind our Jurassic Coast is a magnificent and varied landscape to discover with rolling hills, chalk downlands, colourful heathlands, tranquil woodlands and water meadows.

All this means that Dorset offers plenty of opportunities to get out and about and enjoy some fresh air and activities surrounded by some of Britain’s best countryside.

Family WalkThere are many walkingand cycling routes that criss-cross the county, the perfect way to explore the countryside at your own pace.  For a fun family day out, why not follow the popular Sika Trail which runs through Wareham Forest or try some of the many activities that Moors Valley Country Park has to offer?

You are sure to come across some fantastic wildlife as Dorset is home to some of the richest habitats for plants and animals in the UK.  The protected heathlands in Purbeck, the ancient Kingcombe Meadows, the RSPB nature reserves in Weymouth, Durlston Country Park holder of the green flag award and Arne Nature Reserve are just a few of the wildlife hotspots in Dorset.
