Gateway and Woodland Cottages, Poole

Woodland and Gateway Cottages are situated in the grounds of Holton Lee, a charitable trust, and are set within 350 acres of diverse landscape overlooking the shores of Poole Harbour towards the Purbeck Hills.

This site of special scientific interest comprises heathland, woodland & reed-beds, sustaining a variety of wildlife including some rare and nationally significant species such as sand lizards, Dartford warblers, wood larks and hobbies. Holton Lee provides a haven of tranquillity from which guests can explore the environment.

The cottage gardens extend out onto our vast heathland, which include a reed-thatched observation hide overlooking a pond, reed-beds and Lytchett Bay, ponies grazing on the heath and a large herd of Deer, you might see deer grazing on the grass just out side your window!

We have six nature trails, for which there are information booklets available. Many paths are accessible to wheelchairs and powered chairs, and other vehicles may be hired. Also on site we have an art gallery which has changing exhibitions throughout the year, horse and cart rides, art workshops and artists’ studios. We can accommodate larger events such as weddings and are a registered for civil ceremonies.

Within a few miles of Holton Lee there are some of the best beaches in the south including Sandbanks, the National Trust site at Studland, and are well placed to enjoy England’s first natural World Heritage site The Jurassic Coast. Horse riding, cycling, golf and fishing can also be found within a few miles.
