A picturesque village with a classical church, a row of beautiful 17th century almshouses facing the pretty village green its with stocks and village sign, and a local pub.
The village is home to the Ashley family, the Earls of Shaftesbury, who came to prominence after the Industrial Revolution when they were involved in bettering the conditions of labourers. The statue of Eros in Picadilly Circus, London is a monument to the 7th Earl of Shaftesbury, the 'Philanthropic Earl' and the arrow is aligned to this quaint Dorset village.
The first cabbage cultivated in England is said to have been grown in Wimborne St Giles and a sculptured example can be found amongst the Ashley family monuments in the church.
